About us
The Blue Ambition
Bio Blue’s mission is to accelerate the energy transition by converting organic waste streams into clean, renewable biomethane and valuable circular resources - strengthening a resilient, low-carbon blue economy.
-
One Platform
Bio Blue is a platform that converts local residues into dispatchable biomethane and circular resources - scalable, affordable, and always available - to help decarbonise sectors that cannot be reached through electrification alone.
-
Three
Outcomes- Renewable gas
- Circular value from every waste stream
- Regional impact you can measure
- Renewable gas
-
A clear ambition
Delivering 1.5 TWh of biomethane by 2035 through the development of critical infrastructure for a resilient, low-carbon Europe.
1.
Real energy security
2.
Waste becomes value, nothing lost
3.
Local coalitions, measurable regional impact
Fueling a New Energy Reality
At Bio Blue, we believe the future of clean energy is not only electric – it’s also circular.
Renewable biomethane is a cornerstone of Europe’s energy transition, delivering the essential molecules where electricity cannot reach.
While wind and solar constitute the backbone of renewable power generation, they are heavily dependent on external factors — especially the weather — limiting their ability to meet Belgium’s and Europe’s ambitious climate goals. Hydrogen, meanwhile, remains costly and energy-intensive to produce.
Biomethane, in contrast, offers a reliable, cost-effective, and controllable source of renewable energy. It fills the gap left by electricity and hydrogen, enabling the decarbonization of hard-to-electrify sectors such as heating, heavy industry, and transport.
Recognizing this, both federal and regional strategies identify biomethane as a key pillar on the path to net zero. As Belgium works toward the EU RED III target of 47% renewable energy by 2030, Bio Blue delivers the renewable gas that strengthens energy security and ensures a balanced, resilient energy mix.
Redefining Waste Through Circular Innovation
We are on a mission to transform organic waste from farms, food & feed industries and communities into renewable energy, reusable carbon, and natural fertilizer.
Our integrated process captures every molecule of value — producing clean biomethane, biogenic CO₂, and soil-enriching fertilizer that closes the nutrient loop.
By harnessing advanced technology with local resources, Bio Blue turns waste into opportunity and circularity into measurable climate impact.
Once fully operational, our facilities will generate enough biomethane to heat over 100,000 homes each year, cutting carbon emissions equivalent to planting and maintaining more than 25 million trees.
Creating Lasting Value for Regions and the Planet
Rooted in Belgium and built on collaboration, Bio Blue works hand in hand with farmers, industries, and policymakers to create a resilient low-carbon ecosystem.
We combine innovation, local entrepreneurship, and sustainable resource management to boost rural economies while restoring environmental balance.
With the ambition to supply 50% of Belgium’s biomethane by 2030, we’re not just producing renewable gas — we are redefining the connection between energy, agriculture, and climate action.
